Scientist of the Week 
  1. I was born in Pisa then part of the Duchy of Florence Italy and was the first of six children.
  2. I was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution.
  3. I have been called the "father of modern observational astronomy", the "father of modern physics", the "father of science", and "the Father of Modern Science".
  4. My contributions to observational astronomy include the telescopic confirmation of the phases of Venus, the discovery of the four largest satellites (moons) of Jupiter, and the observation and analysis of sunspots.
  5. My championing of heliocentrism (sun centered solar system) was controversial within my lifetime.
